This artful hooded sweatshirt features a selection of paintings by the Impressionist painter and passionate horticulturist, Claude Monet (French, 1840–1926): Chrysanthemums (1882), a still life exhibited at the Galerie Durand-Ruel in Paris in 1883 and again with the avant-garde artists’ circle Les XX in Brussels in 1886; Haystacks (Effect of Snow and Sun) (1891), in which he endeavored to capture the subject’s complex qualities in shifting daylight; Rouen Cathedral: The Portal (Sunlight) (1894), one of many views that he painted of the architectural wonder; and Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies (1899), a peaceful view of the pond and footbridge near his home in Giverny.
